The Penang Hill Heritage Forest Challenge, which debuted in 2014, is designed to showcase Penang as a premier eco-tourism destination while fostering awareness and appreciation for environmental and heritage conservation within the Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve. This event serves as a testament to sustainable practices and responsible tourism initiatives.
Starting from Penang Youth Park, the 13km route takes the participants onto a run into the Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve, where they will:
- go up the Moon Gate Trail,
- stop by Station 5 and Station 84,
- take the jeep track up further onto Viaduct Road East, Viaduct Road West, and Moniot West,
- then ends the run at the Dataran, Penang Hill at atop the hill.
For the 2024 edition, a shorter route of 7km is introduced to allow casual and fun runners to share the similar terrain and sights around the Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve.
