Terms & Conditions

  1. Kota Bharu Half Marathon 2024 (the “Event” or “KBHM 2024”)is organized by Yayasan KB Care (the “Organiser”) with full support from Urus Setia Belia Negeri Kelantan (an agency under Kelantan state government).
  2. The Organiser reserves the right to modify or substitute any of these Rules and Regulations and the Privacy Policy from time to time at its sole discretion without prior notice to the Participants. If there is ambiguity in any of the provisions, the Organiser shall be the authority to interpret and in doing so, the Organiser will take into account the interests of all the affected Participants. It is incumbent upon each Participant to periodically review these documents to ensure compliance with the current terms of participation and the Organiser shall not be held liable otherwise.
  3. For the purpose of this Event and in addition to the terms and conditions on the Official Website, the Participants agree to:
    1. Provide true, accurate, current and complete information contained in any registration form (such information being the “Registration Data”);
    2. Maintain the security of the Participant’s password and identification; and
    3. Maintain and promptly update the Registration Data to keep it true, accurate, current and complete. The Organiser may contact the Participants from time to time by email and/or mobile device. Any notice sent to the email address and mobile device registered with the Organiser shall be deemed as received by the Participants. If the Participants provide any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or the Organiser has reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, the Organiser may suspend or terminate the Participant's registration and refuse Participants any and all future use of the Official Website (or any parts thereof).
  4. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel or postpone the Event at any time without prior notice to the Participants. In such cases, the Organiser shall endeavour to use reasonable efforts to inform Participants prior to the date of the Event. The Organiser and its Affiliates (as hereinafter defined) shall not be held liable for any loss or inconvenience caused due to such changes. For the avoidance of doubt, “Affiliates” shall include sponsors, co-organisers, co-sponsors, partners, volunteers, and any entity or person that provided products or services for the Event and Event activities.
  5. In the event of any cancellation or postponement, refunds will not be issued, except under exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Organiser. There will be strictly no refund available if the Event is cancelled for reason of force majeure events i.e., due to occurrence of incidents that are beyond the control of the Organiser or acts of God which renders it impossible or unsafe to hold the Event.
  6. The Organiser reserves the right to amend the Event format and/or race routes as the Organiser deems fit for the safety of the Participants and/or to prevent any potential hazards in the running of the Event, at any time. In such cases, the Organiser shall use reasonable efforts to inform the Participants prior to the date of the Event. The Organiser and its Affiliates shall not be held liable for any loss or inconvenience caused due to such changes.
  7. The Organiser reserves the right to use any photographs (including those of Participants), motion pictures, recordings, or any other media records of the Event including any programme(s), event(s), talk(s), demonstration(s), or any other activities associated before, during or after the Event, for any legitimate purpose including commercial advertising, publicity purpose and distribution to its Affiliates.
  8. The Organiser reserves the right to limit and/or refuse entry to the Event and/or other programme(s), event(s), talk(s), demonstration(s), or any other activities involving the Organisers without giving any reason and/or notice.
  9. While every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organiser to ensure the safety of Participants, the Participants take part solely at their own risk and the Organiser and its Affiliates shall not be responsible or held liable for any injury, damage, contraction of communicable disease, death or any other loss howsoever arising from training for, before, during, or after participation in the Event, to the extent permitted by law. Participants are advised to undergo a medical examination and consult a medical practitioner to ensure they are fit for their participation in the Event.
  10. Completion of the registration form confirms the Participant’s agreement to abide by these Rules and Regulations and the Privacy Policy.
  11. Registration for the race is only confirmed upon payment made and upon issuance of the Participant’s race identification number.
  12. Once registration has been duly processed, there will be strictly no refunds after payment is made, for any reason whatsoever. There will be strictly no refunds for Participants who do not eventually take part in the Event for whatever reason.
  13. The Organiser shall not in any way be responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete or inaccurate entry details in the registration form.
  14. Only 1 entry is allowed for each Participant. Change of category is not allowed once registration has been completed.
  15. Participants are strictly prohibited from swapping, transferring, selling, or allowing any other person to wear his/her running bib, unless approved by the Organiser.
  16. If the Participant's original running bib cannot be found by the respective staff during Race Entry Pack Collection (“REPC”), the Organiser reserves the right to replace it with a spare running bib. The Organiser reserves the right to amend or substitute any Participant’s running bib at any time without prior notice to the Participant.
  17. A Race Entry Pack is the Event’s pack which includes a running bib with timing chip, an Event tee, a drawstring bag, and other sponsored items (if any).
  18. The timing chip is a single-use, disposable device attached to the back of the running bib.
  19. Participants must collect their Race Entry Packs at the REPC venue during the stipulated collection period, of which details will be stated on the Official Website.
  20. All Race Entry Packs not collected during collection period will be deemed to be unwanted, and the Organiser shall be at liberty to dispose or re-distribute them accordingly. Race Entry Packs cannot be collected on the day of the Event.
  21. Participants must wear the assigned running bib on the front of his/her running tee. The running bib must be visible on his/her chest at all times. No Participants shall be allowed to start the run nor take part in the Event without displaying the appropriate running bib and/or identification.
  22. It is the responsibility of the Participants to ensure that his/her running bib is not covered with a jacket, pouch bag, his/her arms, or any other object when running over the timing mats. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any Participant who does not use his/her assigned running bib during the race.
  23. Pets, bicycles, in-line skates, prams, strollers, push carts, shoes with built-in or attached rollers and any other wheel-run objects are not allowed on the race route. The only exception to this rule is for the 5km category, where prams, strollers, and wheelchairs are allowed.
  24. Any Participant who commences to run before the actual flag-off of his/her registered race category will be immediately disqualified. The start time for the respective race categories can be found on the Official Website.
  25. Participants who do not start within 20 minutes of respective flag-offs, for safety reasons may not be allowed to start and will be immediately disqualified.
  26. A Participant must retire from the race immediately, if required to do so by any member of the official medical staff, Race Director, and/or security officer.
  27. There are 3 distance categories as follows:
    1. 21.1km (competitive) – Participants must be 17 years old or older as of the day of the Event.
    2. 10km (competitive) – Participants must be 17 years old or older as of the day of the Event.
    3. 5km (fun run) – Participants must be 10 years old or older as of the day of the Event.
  28. Participants below the age of 18 are required to obtain parental/guardian consent and complete the relevant indemnity declaration form as deemed necessary by the Organiser upon registration, failing which, the Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to that Participant.
  29. 21.1 km Run
    1. A competitive run with 2 race categories, i.e., Malaysian Open, Malaysian Masters.
    2. 4 categories are being offered for the 21.1 km Participants:
      1. Malaysian Men Open – 17 years old and above as of Event day.
      2. Malaysian Women Open – 17 years old and above as of Event day.
      3. Malaysian Men Masters – 40 years old and above as of Event day.
      4. Malaysian Women Masters – 40 years old and above as of Event day.
    3. Cut-off time to complete the run is 4 hours.
  30. 10 km Run
    1. A competitive run with 2 race categories, i.e., Malaysian Open, Malaysian Masters.
    2. 4 categories are being offered for the 10 km Participants:
      1. Malaysian Men Open – 17 years old and above as of Event day.
      2. Malaysian Women Open – 17 years old and above as of Event day.
      3. Malaysian Men Masters – 40 years old and above as of Event day.
      4. Malaysian Women Masters – 40 years old and above as of Event day.
    3. Cut-off time to complete the run is 2 hours
  31. 5km Run
    1. A fun run for kids and adults aged 10 years old and above as of Event day.
    2. There are prizes offered for all categories.
    3. Cut-off time to complete the run is 1 hour.
  32. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel and/or add any race category without prior notice to the Participants.
  33. Baggage service is available for the Participants at the Event venue where Participants may deposit their bags, at their own risk.
  34. Participants are advised to pack light on Event day and avoid bringing valuable items to the Event.
  35. The Organiser shall not be responsible for any loss and/or damage, personal or otherwise, to the belongings and items deposited at the Event baggage storage provided for the Participants.
  36. The Organiser also reserves the right to conduct reasonable inspection on any item or bag deposited for security purposes.
  37. The “Gun Time” will be used to determine the winners for the 21.1km and 10km category. Only Participants of the respective category are eligible for prizes.
  38. The “Net Time” will be used to get an overall ranking in all categories.
  39. Participants must complete their respective run categories (which they registered for) within the stipulated cut-off times (these are all based off the gun time i.e., the time when the starting gun is fired); otherwise, they will be deemed disqualified or did not finish.
  40. By registering for the Event, Participant agrees that the Organiser will post the full race results on the Official Website after the Event.
  41. Each Participant is allowed to win only 1 prize (where applicable) in the category that he/she has registered for.
  42. Winners or potential winners who do not use his/her assigned running bib will be disqualified.
  43. The Organiser reserves the right to replace any winners if he/she is found to be disqualified for any reason whatsoever, at the Organiser’s sole discretion.
  44. All winners must report to the person in charge at the prize giving tent as stipulated on their winner's tag. In case a winner fails to do so, the Organiser may donate the prize to charity.
  45. All winners must present their original identification document (either Passport or Identity Card) for verification purposes.
  46. For winners or potential winners, disputes and appeals must be made within 30 minutes of the published results on the results notice board on-site or immediately after the prize presentation, whichever is earlier, failing which the Organiser reserves the right not to entertain any disputes or appeals thereafter.
  47. For all other Participants, disputes and appeals regarding the results must be submitted in writing including electronic mail within 3 days after the Event. The Organiser reserves the right not to entertain any dispute or appeals thereafter.
  48. For all disputes, the Organiser's decision is final and no other disputes thereafter will be entertained.
  49. For all other Participants, any discrepancy in their results, must be informed to the Organiser via electronic mail within 3 days after the official results have been published on the Official Website. No requests for amendment of timing or ranking and follow-ups will be entertained thereafter.
  50. All Participants who successfully complete the race in a category he/she registered for within their respective cut-off times will be given a Finisher Medal upon presentation of their running bib to the respective staff. This entitlement will not apply to Participants who were unable to complete the race within their respective cut-off times, disqualified or did not finish.
  51. All Finisher Medals are to be collected upon completion of the race and no requests will be entertained thereafter.
  52. All Participants who successfully complete the race in a category he/she registered for within their respective cut-off times will be given an e-certificate. The e-certificate will be made available on the Official Website for a limited time only. This entitlement will not apply to Participants who were unable to complete the race within their respective cut-off times, disqualified or did not finish. There will not be any hardcopy Finisher Certificate mailed out to the Participants.
