Why Taiping? Why Taman Tasik Taiping?
Taiping was awarded the third spot as “World’s Most Liveable City” behind Ljubljana and Vancouver at the Sustainable Top 100 Destination Awards at the International Tourismus-Börse (ITB) travel trade show in Berlin
The Taiping Lake Gardens (Malay: Taman Tasik Taiping) is the first public garden established during British rule in Malaysia. The garden is located near Bukit Larut and is equidistant to the Taiping town center and the Taiping Zoo.
The Taiping Lake Gardens was originally a mining ground before it was established as a public garden in 1880. The idea of a public garden was the brainchild of Colonel Robert Sandilands Frowd Walker. The garden was developed by Charles Compton Reade (1880–1933).
The 64 hectares (160 acres) site was the first public garden in Malaya, and was cherished for its beauty; it has been well-maintained since its opening. There are ten scenic lakes and ponds, which highlight the gardens. Along Residency Road, near the gardens, were golden rain trees planted along the pathway which will act as a canopy for runners.
Taiping Lake Gardens is also a big natural playground for a bunch of Malaysian animals like the endangered dusky leaf monkeys. We personally love these white-spectacled little monkeys: they have white fur on their mouth, too, that make them look like real cuties. Look up in the trees and see if you can spot some. Be prepared to hear the calls of the wilds from the Zoo during the run.
Come discover the posh and beauty of Taiping Lake Garden whilst you challenge your inner limits. The race will take you across 5 bridges located and 7 lakes/ ponds around the Taiping Lake Garden. There are many activities that your supporters and family members can do too whilst you put yourself through the challenge. They can take a walk around the Taiping Lake Garden, visit the Taiping Zoo, visit the Stone Garden, explore the many bridges, ponds and lakes on foot or bicycle and take a paddle boat and float at the west lake. There is something for everyone indeed.
